Frederick George Sherlock Morley was born on New Year's Day 1901 in Farnborough, Hampshire, England to George and Ellen Munday Morley. The family lived for many years on Union Street, Farnborough, in a home they called "Idmiston". George Morley built the home in 1900.
Joined the Bahamas Education Department "in the spirit of adventure" in 1926. From Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera, he went to Hope Town, Abaco as schoolteacher and Commissioner. In 1930, he became manager of the Grand Bahama Export Company for 3 years.
George married Margaret Louise "Madge" Saunders in Manhattan 21 June 1929. They had two sons: Peter Saunders Morley and John Richardson Morley. They lived for 30 years at "Harbour View", their guest house, on West Bay Street, Nassau.
George Morley joined Pan American World Airways and served as director of operations in the Bahamas for 33 years. Three years after he retired, he died in Nassau, Bahamas 12 January 1968. He is buried at St. Matthew's Anglican Church Cemetery.
