Please add the following child to this profile: Catherine (Long) Tunstall Wyatt (Long-7303). Catherine (Long) Tunstall Wyatt was the child of Katherine (Morris) Pettit Long and John Long (Long-22399). Katherine Morris first married Thomas Pettit and had Thomas Pettit. After Thomas Pettit Sr's death, Katherine (Morris) Pettit then m2. John Long, and they had Catherine Long. As you can and will see in the biography of this profile for Katherine (Morris) Pettit Long, her father George Morris left land to his grandchildren Thomas Pettit Jr and Catherine Long in deed dated 1685, and describes them as brother and sister. This deed is in the Research Notes on this profile, and daughter Catherine Long is even already mentioned in the Biography section of this profile. Daughter Catherine Long m1. Edmund Tunstall, and after Edmund Tunstall's death, m2. Richard Wyatt, where my interest and connection to the request of this addition lies.

Although I have been added to the Trusted List, it still will not let me add the child specified in my previous message due to Project Protection. Forgive my ignorance, and thank you for your help.

Adding a child makes a connection in the data field, but anything in the data field is pure fiction unless it is backed up by a statement in the biography with a good source. Therefore in profile I work on I always create a separate section under biography listing each child who can be documented through such things as wills, baptisms, or other contemporary records. Anyone with edit privileges can create that section -- and then because of the good documentation, any controversy about connecting the child in the data field is substantially diminished.

In this case, it is already clear that the list of children in the data field needs work -- there are more children's names in the bio than in the data field, and of the three names in the data field, two look like duplicates.

Something else you can do without the ability to connect a child is to go ahead and create a good profile for the child if one doesn't already exist. There is probably already good documentation for the child in the collection of wills and other documents on this profile -- just copy the relevant ones onto the child's profile you create. Then your request is no longer "please add a child" or "please let me add a child" but rather, "please connect Pettit-1234 as a child on this profile" which is the simplest thing for someone to do and the most likely to get a favorable response!

Thanks Cody - that daughter has been added now. I am not sure why you couldn't do it on the trusted list, but it may be that you have to be a profile manager when project protection is applied.

Hey cousin:

I appreciate your comment. The profile has been added to and modified multiple times over the years since I originally posted it, often by more qualified Wiki genealogists than myself. I cannot say who or why that version of the name was posted, and indeed, I am not even sure if I originally posted it; however, it may have significance to someone in their search, so perhaps that is why it is there.

My feeling having done these searches in the past, it is better to have open doors to explore than closed ones.

Now that these profiles are merged clean-up is needed. A lot of the document references should probably be moved to a space page or to the profiles of the named individuals.

I can't find a record for Katherine's birth date. Her father was born about 1623. She was married about 1661. Publicly available estimates are 1838 - 1840.
