Research Note

  • Dell – Compton County – A small village in the region of Hampden and Scotstown, it no longer exists– Dell was located within Hampden township, the latter located east of Newport, west of Whitton, north of Marston, south of Lingwick [1], pg. 36
  • According to a Google search for the Scottish Gaelic word for Shepherd it is Ciobair. The English translation for Buchaille is Great Herdsman. FAG gives Shepherd as middle name.

Biography

Angus Buchaille Morrison (b. June 20, 1836) married Margaret MacRae (b. 1841) about 1864. His middle name `Buchaille` is gaelic for `shepherd`. He was locally known as Angus Buchaille `Sheppard` Morrison. The couple had nine children. Angus Morrison died on June 20, 1915. He is buried in The Dell Cemetery, Hampden, Compton County, Quebec, Canada.
