SOCIAL HAPPENINGS
Grant-Morrison Celebrated with all the Scotch rites and customs was the marriage of Miss Margaret MacFarlane, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morrison, 320 Fifth avenue west, to Alexander Grant, of Cranbrook. Rev. J.A. Clark of Knox Presbyterian church performed the ceremony in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends. The bride was given away by her father and her five brothers, wore a handsome white silk gown en train and trimmed with beautiful rose point lace. She wore the regulation veil held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a basket of pale pink carnations, roses and ferns. Her bridesmaid, Miss Annie Walden of Wigston, Leichester, England, wore a white embroidered robe trimmed with blue and carried a shower bouquet of white chrysanthemums, roses, and sodtax. Little Helen Sheffield, in a dainty blue-silk, made a charming lit- tle flower girl. She also carried white chrysanthemums, roses and ferns. Donald Morrison, the bride's nephew, in a white sailor suit, acted as page. Dun- can Morrison, brother of the bride, supported the groom. The wedding march was played by George Jackson as the bride entered the drawing room on her father's arm and took her position under a floral bell. The groom's gift to the bride included a gold watch, a bracelet and a pearl necklace which she wore.. Mrs. Morrison, the bride's mother, was gowned in a handsome black silk. Many and costly were the presents received from the friends and relatives of the young couple. After the ceremony, congratulations having been tendered the young couple, all the party left the house in automobiles and took a long ride in the country. On their return they sat down to a sumptuous [sic] dinner at 8 o'clock. The table was most elaborately decorated, a large floral bell above the centre of the table and white satin streamers from it to the four ends. In the centre was the large four-story wedding cake, and white chrysanthemums and roses were placed in vases around it. Potted plants were distributed most artistically through the rooms. Mr. and Mrs. Grant left on Thursday on an extended trip to the coast, and on their return will make their home in this city. The traveling costume of the bride was of old rose, and she wore a large black picture hat with plumes. [5]
