Biography

There were two Peter G. Morrow's, grandsons of Peter Gilliam m. Ann Heard, in Walton County, Georgia in the 1820s and 18330s. The man who married Mary Wood was slightly older and called "Peter G. Morrow, Sr." in some records. He owned a 125-acre tract in Walton County (2 Walton 95) and was taxed on it between 1823 and 1834. He did not own slaves while in Georgia. This lines up to the 1830 census record for Peter G. that shows three young daughters, Peter and spouse age 30-39, and no slaves.

The other Peter, slightly younger and thus "Jr.", married Julia Ann Smith and had children James W. and Sarah in the 1840s. The estate record of their first cousin Ewing T. Morrow confirms that the Peter who married Julia is the one descended from Ewing Morrow.

Probate for Peter's estate was opened 17 Sep 1860 (but because Mary was enumerated as a widow in the 1860 census on August 7, he presumably died before then). Affidavit identifies Susan and Frances as children. Grandchildren: Martha Townsend, Gillum M. Andrews, William, Lafayette, Cicero and Catherine Townsend, residing in Mississippi.

Inventory has 210 acres of land, livestock, 3 slaves (1 of which stayed with Mary)[1]
