According to his grave marker, Edmund died in August, 1780 and was buried in the Old Cemetery in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts.[3]

Research Notes

Samuel Morse was a fairly common name in Massachussetts, which has probably added to the confusion not only of his identity, but also to confusion about the identity of his spouse and children. Whether Edmund Morse of Sherborn--whose parents are recorded in original documents as Samuel and Bethia Morse of Sherborne[4]--is the son of Samuel Morse of Groton remains uncertain.
