Biography

Charles Alan (or Allen) Morton was born in South Carolina to Joel and Lucy Morton, ca 1826. [1][2][3][4] [5] (Note: Dates on Find a Grave memorial are unsourced. No exact DOB established via sources found at familysearch. Durbin-702 08:36, 11 December 2017 (EST))

He married Melvina Samuels. [citation needed]

At the time of the 1850 census, Charles was farming in District No. 22, Marshall County, Alabama. His wife was Melvina. Children enumerated were Miles, Lucy, and John. [6]

Charles served as a Private in Company C, 28th Regiment of the Alabama Infantry, CSA. [7][8][9]

In 1880, Charles and wife, Melvina, lived in Haynes and Hoppers, Etowah, Alabama, United States. Enumerated children included: Marshall, Zemlia E. , and William. Also living in the household was Lucy Morton, age 89, mother of Charles. [10]


He died in 1886 and is interred at Beason-Union Cemetery in St. Clair County, Alabama. [5]
