According to his gravestone and Find A Grave memorial, William Morten was born on 15 January 1821 in Blount County, Alabama, USA. He was the son of Elizabeth (Durham) Morton and Marshall Morton Jr..
He married Nancy Bynum in Blount County, Alabama, in about 1849. She was the daughter of John Bynum and Rhoda Murphree. She was born 30 Dec 1819 in Blount County, Alabama, USA. The couple had 9 children.
After the US Civil War, which ruined most of Alabama, they moved to Scurry County, Texas. They had a homestead in Snyder, Scurry, Texas, USA.
William Marshall Morten passed away in Scurry County, Texas, USA, on 15 April 1905. He was 84 years old. He was buried at the Snyder Cemetery, Snyder, Scurry County, Texas, USA. His wife survived his passing for just a year. She died at 87 years old on 5 June 1906 in Snyder, Scurry County, Texas, USA and was buried next to her husband.
