Note N1771OBITUARY GEORGE LESTER MORTON, 67, of 924 Cedar, died Aug. 14 in an area hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Haggard and the Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery. Mr. Morton was born in Minter on Sept. 13, 1912, son of George Washington Morton and Florence Gibson Morton. He attended Ward Chapel School. He married Myrtle Ova Stailey on Dec. 24, 1938; she preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1970. He married Mrs. May Wright on July 12, 1971. Mr. Morton moved to Paris from Woodland in 1959 and was a longtime employee of Babcock and Wilcox, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the North Paris Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; six children, George P. Morton, James Morton and Gary Morton, all of Paris, Mrs. Virginia Brackeen of Irving, Mrs. Myrtle Faye Sneed of Commerce and Ronnie Morton of Powderly; two brothers, Samuel T. Morton of Paris and Jim Morton of Lamar Point; a sister, Mrs Josie Little of Hutchins, step-children, Mrs. Marsha Keeling of Hugo, and Mrs. Grace Stoneburner and Lee Johnson both of Des Moines, Iowa; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Keith Howard, Jerry Cox, Gilbert Graum, Gary Reed, Lonnie Spencer and Doug Lane.
