Henry Morton was a lifelong resident of Osage County.
Henry was born in 1863 in Osage County, Missouri. He is the son of Allen Morton and Martha Coffelt.[1][2][3]
He received a patent for his design for a railroad car coupling. He had a portable sawmill. He travelled to jobs and cut the lumber for many barns and homes that were to be built in the area. He was also a threshing machine operator. His son, Clyde, would say that if the family had had to depend on his farming for their living, they would have all starved to death.
He was married 30 APR 1893 in Osage County, Missouri to Georgia Ann Brumble[4][5] and they had ten children: Clyde, Earl, Otis, Herbert, Theodore, Goldie, Sylvia, twins, Jewell and Buell (Jack), and Ina[6][7][8][9][10] They raised their children on a farm near Mint Hill, Missouri. When they were older, they moved into Linn. Their old farm house was eventually burned by their children. A grandson told that the attic still contained many of Georgie Ann's keepsakes, photos and family letters she had saved. Nobody at the time was interested in that "old stuff".
Henry died in 1952 at his home in Linn, from cardio vascular disease. He was 89 years old.[11] He is buried at Shirley Cemetery in Mint Hill, Missouri with his wife, parents and maternal grandparents.[12]
DNA
Larry Morton has been tested with Family Tree DNA Kit #904254 for Y chromosome matching. He matched to PGM, his 5C, at a genetic distance of 2 on 37 markers. FtDNA probability that they share a relationship within 6 generations is 77.88%. He also matched LBM, his 4C1R, at a genetic distance of 0 on 37 markers. FtDNA predicted probability that they share a relationship within 6 generations is 93.29%. Paternal lineage confirmed through MRCA Marshall Morton.
Autosomal testing has been done and results need added.

Biography written and sourced by great-granddaughter, LaMyra Morton. It is ok to take and use for personal use so long as proper credit is given, but please do not copy to other websites, or print without permission. Some details came to me from stories told on outings taken with grandparents and parents in Osage County to see the old home place, as well as buildings my grandfather had helped his father work on. My grandparents used to have Henry's patent in a box at their home. It was shown to me when my grandparents were still living, though I'm not sure the family's copy still exits anywhere.
