Biography

Anthonie was born c1561 most likely in London or possibly in Whitehall Hough End after his father relocated the family during the outbreak of the plague in London.

Occupation - described as a merchant of London in the 1634 Visitation[1] and citizen and clothworker in his wife's Will.

1588/9 - Anthonie was godfather to Robert Brookes, son of Thomas, at the baptism at St Pancras Soper Lane, London.[2]

Partner 1: Anthonie had a relationship with Anne Bleze[1] resulting in the birth of two sons.

Privateering - 26 Sep 1591, Order of the Privy Council[3] This daie Anthony Mosley of London, marchant, hath appeared before the Clerck of her Majesty's most honorable Privey Counsell, being bound their unto by a bond taken by the Maiour and other Comyssioners at Plymouth, which is here entered accordingly for his indempnity, and is notwithstanding enjoyned not to departe without speciall licence obteined from their Lordships. [not to set sail, suspected to be privateering]

1600 - Executor of wife's nuncupative Will, dated 9 Oct and proved 25 Oct.[5] The Will noted that Mary was the executrix of Henry Huett's Will and that she gave the administration to Anthonie.

5 Nov 1600 - Anthony Moseley Citizen and Clothworker of London leases to George Synge of Bridgnorth Gent and Richard Synge his son a moiety of the tithes of Corn[6]....

12 Feb 1602 - Sentence of the Will of Mary Moseley of London and administration to Anthonie[7] [Latin]

Property in Hornsey - On 10 February, 1607, Matthew Bolt was granted licence to demise to Anthony Moseley citizen and clothworker of London a tenement and two gardens and six acres in the tenure of Anthony Moseley[8]

18 May 1609 - Administration of Mary's estate revoked and transferred to Sir Thomas Hewett kt.[9] [Latin]

1612 - mentioned in his father's Will:[10] my sonne Anthonie....have given him greate somes of money amountinge to twelve hundred poundes.....I thinke to bee a sufficient advancement....declare him to be fullie advanced.....mayntenance twentie poundes a yeare.

1603 - 1625 Mosley v Mosley:[11] Anthony and Margaret v Sir Edward & Anne Mosely, Humphrey Davenport and William Sparke. Subject: manors of Hough and Heaton Norris

1617 - Bequest from stepmother Elizabeth:[12] to my sonne Anthony Mosley ffive poundes.

3 Dec 1621 Sentence of Will of Marie Hewet alias Mosley[13] [Latin]

Anthonie was reported as deceased in the Will of brother Edward, 1637.[14] Buried 3 Sep 1625 at St Martin's Ludgate:[15] The same day [3rd] was buried Anthony Moseley prisoner.
