Biography

Emma 'Emmer' Moseley was born 14 March 1905 in Georgia, the daughter of Andrew Marshall Moseley and Eliza Turner Moseley[1]. In 1910[2]and 1920[3] she lived in Toombs County, Georgia with her parents and siblings.

She married James Arthur Barfield. In 1930 they lived in Cedar Crossing, Toombs County, with their children Mayo and Eschol Lee[4]. They still lived in Toombs County in 1940 with Mayo, Eschol, J.B. Mary Ellen, and Othalene living at home[5].

She died 28 September 1973 in Dade County, Florida[6] and was buried in Palms Woodlawn Cemetery, Naranja, Miami-Dade County, Florida[1].

Emmer Lee (Mosley) Barfield died at age 68. Buried at Palms Woodlawn Cemetery, Homestead Fla, Dade County. She was first married to James Arthur Barfield B:4-23-1900 D:12-13-1955 (gunshot suicide lung cancer).

Nov 1957 she married Mr. Ottis Willard Revell B:11-15-1903 D:9-19-1979. Ottis Revell's second born daughter (Helen Revell) from his previous marriage, married Emmer's oldest son James Barfield.

Emmer is mother of 5: son Mayo Barfield (B:10-29-1926 D:12-5-2006 died in Vero Beach Fla) Mayo was cremated and scattered in the mountains per his wishes. Mayo's wives were Retter and Stella. Son Eschol Lee Barfield (B:10-3-1928 D:10-8-1966 car crash, Palms Woodlawn cem, Dade cty. Fla) His wife was Dorothy Louise (Anglin). James Barfield B:8-3-1932 still alive as of 1-2014 his wife was Helen Revell. Daughter Mary Ellen (Barfield) Nataro (B:1935 D:3-1966 brain cancer) Husband was Vincent. Othalene (Barfield) Carter (B:12-4-1937 Lyons Ga birth at home) still alive as of 1-2014. Othalene's husband was Paul Woodrow Carter Sr.

Emmer loved to cook, and would tell anyone who wanted to learn, to just watch her. She dearly loved children around her often. She worked hard in fruit packing plants and farm fields.

Her father: ?, Her mother: Elizabeth Mosley. Her Sisters: Clara Bell(Mosley) Forster D:1966 (Clara is mom to Juanita Forster), Minnie (Mosley) Gladin, Ethel (Mosley) Woodward, Ale Mosley. Her Brothers: Desso Mosley, Derm Mosley (he married Rosa Lee), Lonnie Mosley. Emmer is my father's mother (Eschol Lee Barfield), she was always so kindhearted and cherished each of her children and grandkids. She loved having all the kids near her. She always worked so very hard and her callused hands told the story. Her sweet nature commanded respect that no one could ever think to deny her of it. She endured tremendous heartache with the loss of two husbands and two of her children's death in the same year 1966 (Mary Ellen and Eschol) yet somehow she kept finding the courage and strength to share her sweet smiles and loving hugs to all.
