Nathaniel Mott was born at Braintree, Massachusetts, 30 Aug 1661, the son of Nathaniel Mott and Hannah Niles; [1] died, probably at New Shoreham, Rhode Island, between 14 Nov 1717, when he made his will, naming as executors his wife, Sarah and Capt. Simon Ray, and 12 Dec 1717, when his will was proved. [2]
He married (1) probably at New Shoreham, 29 Nov 1682, Hepzibah Winsley, daughter of Nathaniel Winsley and Mary Jones; [2] [3] married (2) also probably at New Shoreham, 23 Jan 1693/94, Sarah Tosh, daughter of William Tosh and Jael Sullivan. [2] [3]

Nathaniel Mott of New Shoreham, R. I., born at Braintree 30 Aug 1661, followed his father-in-law Nathaniel Winsley of Salisbury, Mass., to Block Island, where he was a freeman in 1684. He became one of the leading citizens of New Shoreham and a large landowner. In 1695, and for many subsequent years, he was town clerk, from 1700 to 1710 he was deputy from the Island to the Rhode Island General Assembly, and in 1710 he was lieutenant of the Block Island company. He married first, 29 Nov 1682, Hepzibah Winsley, daughter of Nathaniel of Salisbury, Mass., and Block Island; and secondly, 23 Jan 1793/94, Sarah Tosh or MacIntosh, daughter of William and Jael (Sullivan) of Braintree and New Shoreham. Nathaniel Mott's will is dated 14 Nov 1717, and proved 12 Dec. 1717.
