Catharina Margaretha Moyer was born in 1720, in the Palitinate, in what is modern day Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Note: The German Empire was founded on January 18, 1871, in the aftermath of three successful wars by the North German state of Prussia. In 1738, Catharina immigrated to American aboard the ship The Nancy. Catharina probably knew her future husband before the sailing, but they may have met aboard the ship. She was only 18 at the time, and would have had to have parental permission to marry.
Six years later, in 1744, at St Michaels Reformed Church in Philadelphia, Catharina married Matthias Lehrer. Their children took the anglicized surname Lair. Catherina's husband is Ancestor #: A067830. Much information is recorded by the Daughters of the American Revolution, as their sons served during the WAR, and their daughters married soldiers.
