Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Helene Swoboda, nee Mueller, 83, a fifty-four year resident of this area whose death occurred Satiurday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Adolf Rabel, were held here Sunday, Rev. R. Uhlhorn, Evangelical pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Six of her grandchildren, Henry Hartman, Jr., Adolf Rabel, Jr., Charlie Johnson, Walter Stark, Frank Stark, Jr., and Willie Stark acted as pallbearers.

The deceased was a native of Oldenburg, Germany, where she was born July 10, 1855. In 1880, she was married to John Swoboda in Coin on the Rhine. She and her husband came to Texas on Dec. 14. 1885, and settled near Holman. Later, they moved nearer to Weimar, where she spent the remainder of her life. Mr. Swoboda expired on Jan. 18, 1913.

Survivors include five daughters; Mrs. Marie Stark, Mrs. Lena Johnson, Mrs. Julie Hartmann, Mrs. Gesine Rabel, Mrs. Frieda Greak of Weimar; one son Johnn Swoboda of San Francisco, California; one brother, Eilert Mueller of Beeville and three step-brothers, Dick Meyer of Shiner, Herman Meyer of Rosenberg, and John Meyer of Germany; also thirty-five grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Swoboda was a good christian woman, member of the Lutheran church, always faithful and trusting, a lovble[sic] lady, well and favorably known throughout this section. She was devoted to home and family, always ready and willing to render assistance whereever needed, a splendid Christian character, dutiful mother and considerate friend. She will be sadly missed in the community where she lived for so many years.

The Mercury publisher extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved. Weimar Mercury, February 24, 1939.
