Biography

The Holly Family Bible records that Johannes Holly's wife was named Frani, and that she died on 19 Feb 1769. When she and Johannes immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1750 aboard the Brotherhood, they were accompanied by an orphan boy named Nicholas Miller. Nicholas is believed to be a younger brother or nephew, and it is thus theorised that Veronica's last name at birth was Miller. [1]

Johannes and Frani were the parents of ten children :

  • Magdalena (Jan. 26, 1739-Oct. 26, 1820) m. Jacob Mast (1738-1808) [1]
  • Barbara (Apr. 17, 1741-March 8, 1812) m. Christian Yoder Jr., (1726-Nov. 20, 1816) (2nd wife) [1]
  • Frani b. Sept. 1, 1742 died young [1]
  • Johannes b. Apr. 4, 1743 died young [1]
  • Johannes b. Oct. 10, 1745 [1]
  • Jacob, b. Nov. 27, 1746 [1]
  • Hettie / Tinah [?] b. July 27 1747 [1]
  • son b. & d. June 1751 [1]
  • David b. Dec. 12, 1754 m. Catherine Gindlesperger [1]
  • Veronica, better known as Frany, (b. March 27, 1757-December 15, 1833) m. Joseph Johns [1]

An unsourced Findagrave entry records that Frani was born on 1 Jan 1714 in Landau, Landau in der Pfalz Stadtkreis, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany and died on 19 Feb 1769, and was buried at the Northkill Amish Community, Berks County, Pennsylvania. [2]

Troyer-730 and Mueller-2300 do not represent the same person because: Veronica Miller/Mueller married Johannes Hooley, not Andreas Hooley.

The surname is given as LLER (not LIER). From the source info, it appears this is a very bad typo for Mueller. If the PM ever sees this, please fix it.

Comment about Veronica Lier claimed as wife to John Hooley. If she was b. @ 1712 in PA how is it that she is having children with John in Switzerland (7) from 26 Jan 1739 to 27 Jul 1747? I do not think she is the right Veronica. I'm trying to think of a reason not to put her in the waste basket. I would like to find a substitute. None of my research books have anybody named Lier although I find that there are many in wiki. I will sleep on the matter as tomorrow is another day.
