Biography

Edna Pearl Mulholland was really Emma Theresa Mulholland, of which there are no offical papers due to a fire in the registry office. She grew up as Emma celebrating her birthday on the 10th of June. She was the chosen daughter of Ann and George Teal of The Garrison Road, Ridgeway, Ontario. It was not until she married my grandfather and needed official papers that she became Edna Pearl, we assume her dead sister that died in infancy.(June 6, 1914- Sept 1914).No official papers of grandma were ever found.We jokingly referred to her as a changling.^[1]

I found confirmation of Grandma! 1921 Canadian Census, finally, nearly 100 years later! Grandma was Emma Theresa Mulholland, she is listed as a daughter of Norman and Edna Mulholland, age 6, birth about 1915. She had a sister Grace, 18, born 1903, a brother George, age 7, born 1914 and a brother Clarence, 1, born 1920. along with her Grandfather James Mulhollnd 73, born 1884. All born in Ontario. Her great grandparents are listed as having been born in Ireland. Grandma's mother was English descent, her father (English mother), father (Irish descent). Yet her father is listed as Irish along with her and her siblings, her mother English and her paternal grandfather as English although his parents are listed as born in Ireland? Another mystery?

Grandma's parents owned their own home, wood construction, at 137 "Thomas Road", I believe that is a spelling error as it was always told as being Thorold Road, in what is now Welland, Ontario. Her father was a teamster, self employed, Grandma always said he drove a team of horses.
