Biography

John Mullins Sr. is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.

John Mullins, Sr. was born in 1750 in Albemarle County, Virginia, the son of Matthew Mullins and Mary Maupin.

John married Mary Sarah or Sarah Ballard (1758-1809) about 1780 in Albemarle County, Virginia. Their children were:

  1. Matthew Mullins (1779–1853) married Comfort Lovet in Mercer County, Va. (now W.Va.)
  2. Milly Mullins (1782–? in Grundy County, Tennessee)
  3. John Mullins, Jr. (1782–1857 in Giles County, Virginia)
  4. Sarah (Mullins) McClagherty (1783–1859 in Pearisburg, Giles, Virginia)
  5. Elizabeth "Betsy" Mullins (1786–1864)
  6. Lavinia Mullins
  7. Wiley Mullins (1787-1853)
  8. Mary Mourning "Marah" Mullins (1790–1864)
  9. Nancy Mullins (1792- )
  10. Jane Mullins (1797-1854)
  11. Sarah Mullins (1802-1859)

In the 1810 US Census there is a John Mullins in Fredericksville, Albemarle County, Virginia and in Giles County, Virginia. Perhaps John Sr. is still in Albemarle and his son John Jr. has pioneered to Giles County?[1]

John passed away in 1835 in Giles County, Virginia.
