I am Loren Mullins. I was born in 1935 in Salem, Nebraska. My father was a farmer who had faced a bankruptcy in 1934. That was a year when it was so dry the corn did not sprout and what did try to grow did not produce. The entire nation was in depression. Children were born! My father had planted popcorn with horses and machinery purchased with borrowed money. Salem was his home town, so he moved his young family back where they could live close to his parents and other relatives.
Eventually, there were six children in our family and a seventh who did not survive. In spite of poverty in the early years of my life, we were happy people who lived in a community filled with large families and a hopeful future. The banker who had gone through the bankruptcy with Dad encouraged him to try farming again. He loaned money for a new tractor and equipment along with that new beginning.
At five years of age I followed my brother and three older sisters into the Salem school. Grades were K -12. I didn't realize what was happening, but I was placed in First grade while others my age were in Kindergarten. We moved a few times and I attended school at Honeycreek (a rural K-12 school), and Stella, Nebraska, where I graduated from high school in 1952.
I went on for more education. Westmar College, LeMars, Iowa - BA in 1956 Garrett-Evangelical Seminary, Evanston, IL - M-Div in 1959 Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, CA, - MA in 1976 Attended University of Nebraska-Kearney
I was granted a License to Preach in 1955. I was ordained in 1959.
I served United Methodist Churches: Bushnell, Nebraska 1959-1966 Custer County Parish 1966-1973 Sabbatical in Berkeley, CA 1973-1974 Lincoln, NE Warren 1974-1982 Omaha, NE Hanscom Park 1982-1987 District Supt. Scottsbluff, NE 1987-1993 Papillion, NE St. Pauls 1993-1998 Part Time Omaha, NE First 1998-2010
My wife, Iola Wendland Mullins, and I have enjoyed travel during retirement. We have visited all fifty states in the Union. We have also visited all fifty state capitol buildings and our nation's capitol. We have also visited Germany and the towns where Iola's four grandparents were born. We have also visited Ireland with a focus on Northern Ireland. My goal in genealogy is to find the Mullins family link to Ireland, Scotland, and England.

Sources are very important for genealogy - be sure to include the sources used, on each profile you add.
It is a good idea to enter a few of your ancestors manually, to get used to how WikiTree works. Then, you could upload a small portion of your tree, with a gedcom, to see how that works. There is usually editing needed after a Gedcom import, so fewer profiles makes the task easier.
We have a DNA project here at WikiTree DNA project
