Booker “Little Book” Mullins was born about 1778 in Henry County, Virginia. His parents were William and Jane (Stanley) Mullins.
He married Judith ‘aka Judy’ (Stanley) on May 17, 1803 in Franklin County, Virginia. They had only two children; Judy and Joseph.
On Feb 03, 1817 Booker purchased 150 acres on Town Creek from Thomas Roberts. This property was bounded by Jacob Goode’s land and the Stanley land.

(Note: The William Stanley property bordered the William Mullins property. For a general idea of these families property locations on Town Creek, refer to J.R. Hildebrand’s Early Settlers Map of Franklin Co. Va.)
(Note: Also on Feb 03, 1817 Jacob Goode purchased 170 acres on Town Creek from Thomas Roberts. Jacob had married Alice Mullins on Jan 09, 1817 and she was the daughter of Booker’s brother John “Chunky” Mullins).
Thomas M. Randolph, Governor of Virginia, on Aug 16, 1820 by virtue of a land office treasury warrant 6655, grants Booker Mullins a 25 acre tract of land on the waters of Town Creek bounded by Robertson’s line, Thomas Roberts line, to Peilliman’s line. Thomas Randolph, Governor, set his hand and seal to be affixed at Richmond July 30, 1821. Land Office Grants No. 70, 1820-1821, p. 269 (Reel 136). Collection housed in the Archives at the Library of Virginia.
Booker presented the estate appraisal of William Mullins (his father) to the Franklin Co Va court in Dec. 1830. On August 05, 1833, the Franklin County Court ordered that Samuel Saunders, George Turner, George Standley, & Jacob Prillaman or any three of them after being sworn according to law do settle the a/c current of Booker Mullins admin of Wm Mullins decd & r/c.
Also, in August 1833 the Franklin County, Va. court ordered Booker Mullins, George Turner, John Kemp, William Luke, and Thomas Standley (Stanley) to view a way from the ford of Pigg River on F Saunder’s line by Robert Hairston’s & George Turner’s to intersect the Town Creek lands leading from Samuel Saunder’s mill to the Henry line and report to Court the conveniences and inconveniences (access is well to the public as to individuals).
On Aug 19, 1840. John “Chunky” Mullins of Pike Co, Ky sold to his brother Booker “Little Book” Mullins his interest in his portion of 200 acres, he had previously received from his father William’s estate (stated in this deed). The land was on the south fork of Butram Town Creek, Franklin Co Va. This tract of land bordered the lands of Thomas Stanley, George Stanley, James Young, & other land currently owned by Booker “Little Book” Mullins. Ordered recorded Sept 07, 1840.

On Jul 16, 1842 William & Nancy (Mullins) Hill & Joseph & Olly “Ollie” (Mullins) Stanley sold their interest in (their portion of) 200 acres on Town Creek to Booker “Little Book” Mullins & George Stanley. This land was their portion from the estate of William Mullins decd, father of Booker, Nancy, & Olly (Ollie). George Stanley was the brother of Joseph Stanley who married Booker’s sister Ollie. Booker’s will was written Sept 07, 1861. He wills all of his property of every kind to his wife (Judy). After her death, half of Booker’s tract of land and half of the remaining property would go to the heirs of his son Joseph with the remaining half going to his grandchildren, the children of his decd. daughter Judy. Booker appointed his wife Judith and his son Joseph as the executors of his will. Franklin County, Va Will Book 14 p402 & FamilySearch Film 7645000, image 411.
Booker died by Spring 1867. His will was produced in court on Apr 01, 1867 & proved by Peter & Robert Saunders, the witnesses and admitted to record on motion of Joseph Mullins, executor. Certificate was granted to Joseph to obtain a probate of the will. Judy (Booker’s wife) executrix of the will refused to take this upon herself.
On April 27, 1867 an inventory appraisal of Booker’s estate was subscribed to court by Joseph McGuffin, Austin Barnes, and Samuel Prillaman. The appraisal was entered to record May 06, 1867. Franklin Co, Va. Will Book 15, pages 17 and 18.
Nov 03, 1869 George & Mary Easter sold 132 acres on Town Creek in Franklin County, Va. to some of Joseph Mullins children, the grandchildren of Booker Mullins decd. - Henry, Mary Jane, Andrew, Booker, Joseph, Octavia, & Louisa. This property was adjacent to the land that had been owned previously by Booker Mullins decd. See Virginia Chancery Case 1872-003.
Judith (Judy), Booker’s wife died sometime after April 01, 1867 when Booker’s will was produced in court. She doesn’t appear on the 1870 Census, therefore she must have died sometime between 1867 and 1870. This seems logical because Booker Mullins decd. personal estate was sold in 1870.
On Oct 08, 1870 a List of Sales of the personal estate of Booker Mullins decd, was exhibited to the Clerks Office, Franklin Co. Va and admitted to record. Some family members purchased items from the estate including Booker’s son Joseph’s children Joseph, Andrew, Booker, & Louisa, Peyton Stanley, spouse of Mary Mullins, daughter of Joseph, John E Bryant, spouse of Octavia Mullins, daughter of Joseph, and Booker’s granddaughter Frances (Ramsey) McGhee. Joseph Ramsey was admin of the sale and he was the son of Judy (Mullins) Ramsey, the deceased daughter of Booker. Franklin Co. Va. Will Book 15 records pages 417-418.
Booker (Little Book) Mullins 1778-1867 lived on the old Mullins property in Franklin County, Virginia after he married. He and his father William 1746-1831 died on the old farm and are both buried there on the property. William’s father, William 1721-1796 is also buried here along with other Mullins and Stanley family. There are some field stone markers and headstone markers in the burial grounds.
Land along Town Creek in Franklin County, Virginia was inherited, purchased and sold by this branch of Mullins families for many years.
William Mullins, grandson of Mathew Mullins appeared on the 1749 Lunenburg County, Virginia Tax List. He lived in the western section of Lunenburg Co. Va. that became Halifax Co Va. in 1752. He resided there from 1753 through 1768. Note - This portion of Lunenburg County which became Halifax County in 1752; became Pittsylvania County in 1767; then became Henry County in 1776; and then became Franklin County in 1786.
On Jul 11, 1768 William sold his property in Pittsylvania County to Jeremiah Ward. This land was either resold or possibly auctioned Nov 25 1768 (?) See Pittsylvania Co Va Deed Book 1 p191.
In 1769, William moved to Town Creek (originally called Buttram Town Creek) in what was then Henry (now Franklin) County.
This first William who lived on Town Creek was the father of William Mullins (Mullins-340 who married Jane Stanley). However, this connection is broken.
Descendants of the first William inherited and purchased this land for many years along with purchasing additional land along Town Creek. Note that Booker Mullins in this branch born in 1841 (along with his siblings) inherited some of this property.
The Family Tree DNA Project calls the group from which this Mullins family descends "The descendants of Mathew Mullins"
Descendants from all male children in Mathew Mullins direct branch have participated in YDna testing and are genetically a match to one another with the exception of Booker “Old Booker” who does not match his brothers and was genetically an Adkins.
Y DNA project results has confirmed this Mullins Y branch carries the genetic marker M222 and has been identified of Northern Irish descent. ☘️

William Mullins Jr is NOT linked to his parents, William Mullins Sr and Elizabeth Scott. He was either disconnected or phased out due to a merger with a William lacking his family links. I have proposed several ways to correct the broken descendant links.

Judy (MULLINS) RAMSEY probably died between 1830 and 1833 as her husband remarried on 13 January 1833 in Henry County, Virginia to Winnifred DAVIS. Note: A newer tombstone that was obviously not placed at the time of her or her husband's death was located for Thomas RAMSEY which stated that Judy RAMSEY died in 1831.
