Salmon Day Munson was born about 1825 in Pennsylvania. He married Lydia W. GOTSHALL about 1848, in Union County, Pennsylvania. They had eight children in 14 years. James Munson 1850, Edward Stark Munson 1851, (my great-grandfather) A W Munson 1854, Anna Mary Munson 1856, William F. Munson 1858, Fannie L. Munson 1861, Cameron Munson 1864, and Nellie Munson 1864, all born in Pennsylvania. He died on July 12, 1869, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 44.

Munson, a painter, aged 44 years, while working on a building on the North Side, on Saturday afternoon, suddenly fell down senseless from a sunstroke. He was conveyed to his home, No. 78 North Dearborn street, and remained insensible until yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock, when he died.
