  • "A truly remarkable case of fertility and longevity is furnished by the Pond family. Dan Pond (1726-1783), of Northford, Conn., married Mabel Munson (1730-1793); they settled in Poultney, Vt., and had fifteen children, thirteen sons and two daughters. Several of the sons served in the Revolution, on of them dying in service. The other fourteen children all lived to marry, and most of the lived to an advanced age. The sum total of the lives of these fifteen children amounted to more than a thousand years. If any other American woman, through her children, can equal this record, let her share the laurel with Mable Pond!"
