Mary was born in 1845. Mary Murphy ... She passed away in 1924. [1]

First married to William Craig (1873) who died the year they were married in a horse accident. They had one daughter Letitia. Mary Ann later married John N. Craig, her first husbands cousin.

Mary Ann (Murphy) Craig's father, William Murphy, remarried Mary Craig of Antrim Ireland, after the death of his first wife , Letitia Hill.

William and first wife,Letitia Hill Murphy, had 5 sons and one daughter, Mary Ann. He had one son, James, with second wife Mary Craig The older Murphy boys came to the US first . William Murphy, Mary Craig Murphy, 5 year old Mary Ann (Hill) Murphy and her half brother James immigrated a few years later. They sailed into NY and went straight to Philly. From there William Murphy got a job in Kentucky as an overseer of a large farm. The family ultimately moved to Illinois at the time of the Civil War. Not sympathetic to the Confederate cause, Mary and their two young children(Mary Ann and James) were allowed to leave. William being pressed to join the southern side, had to flee secretly.
