Phoebe Ann Murphy (18 May 1825, West Virginia-Aug 1900, Nebraska) was the daughter of Marshal Charles Murphy (1793–1877) and Mary Margaret (Poe) Murphy (1802–1883).
(Family tradition: She was tiny woman, and when she sat in a straight back chair her hair was so long it touched the floor. She was the wife of Michael Boyce. They were parents of (*)9 children, 4 lived to be adults, 3 to old age. Their sons (Isaac and Stephen), moved west, settling in Nebraska, but relocating later to other areas. Michael and Phoebe left West Virginia about 1900. After Phoebe's (**)death her husband returned to West Virginia and made his home with their daughter, Phoebe Elizabeth "Betty" (Boyce) Hornbeck.

The gravestone in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Hinkleville, Buckhannon District, Upshur Co., WV, was placed there in her memory by great-grandaughter, Rena (Lane) Smith. [1]
