Source: "Ramblers Notes" , Canton Weekly Register, Canton, Illinois, July 19, 1906; Subject Jesse Murphy His father (Elisha Murphy) was a Blacksmith and a Gunsmith, had 12 children 6 boys and 6 girls, Jesse was the youngest Moved from Richland Co, Ohio in 1833 to Putman Twp, Fulton Co, Illinois Elisha Murphey was a farmer, gunsmith and a six horse teamster. He lived in Huntingdon Co, PA until abt. 1818 when he moved to Richland, Ashland Co, OH and then in 1833 to Putnam Township Fulton County, IL. Served in the militia of Lancaster County, PA in 1793. Census of Huntingdon County 1800, 1810; Ohio 1820-1830. (jlpcmcg)
