Born in 1854, Johanna had 2 sisters Helen and Margaret, and an unidentified brother that she said was a notable doctor in New Jersey. Her sister Margaret died shortly after the birth of her daughter, and the infant daughter was raised by Johanna and her husband. The young girl became a nun and a highly respected nurse, in the order of Sisters of Charity in the New York City area hospitals. Her name was Sister Margaret Mercedes (Phelen).
After her husband Douglas died in 1918, (perhaps connected to 1918 flu pandemic) she was living with her daughter and grandchildren, first on Ashburton Ave then on Mulford St.; per the 1925 NY census. Census actually wrote Josephine for her first name.
Johanna is buried with her husband Douglas William Wyatt, and her daughter Loretta, in St Joseph Catholic cemetery, Yonkers NY

Johanna's parents were Irish immigrants. (confirmed in her Census listings) My understanding is that she was born in the Yonkers area and lived her life there after marriage to Douglas William Ormond. After the death of her husband in 1918 in Yonkers, She started residing with her daughter's Cornielius Ormond family of 6, in Yonkers NY. The 1930 US Census lists her age as 75 and indicates that she was first married at age 25 (1879-1880). I know that she raised my Grandmother to be quite literate and educated, to be devout in her faith and very caring, devoted to her family, while strong and resilient for a life without extra privileges or money
