Biography

James Edward Murphy was born about 1854 in Georgia[1], son of David S. and Mariah Murphy[2].

In 1860[2], and 1870[3], he lived with his parents and siblings in Georgia.

He married Willie Sophronia "Fronie" Harrell on 25 Jan 1872 in Jefferson County, Georgia[4][5].

In 1880, they lived in Jefferson County, Georgia with their four daughters, Anna, Lula, Emma, and Rosa[6]. By 1900, they lived in Emanuel County, Georgia with children Charley, Henry, Bell, Genie, Willie, and Fannie[7].

He and Fronie appear on the 1910[8] census in Emanuel County, Georgia with various children and grandchildren.

He appears on the 1920[9] census in Tattnall County, Georgia in the household of his son-in-law, Green Hutcheson.

He died 27 January 1924 and was buried in Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Tattnall County, Georgia[1].

He is mentioned on the death records of his children Lula M. Harris[10], Fannie Mae Floyd[11], Rosa Dickerson[12], Emma Lee Hutchison[13], and Willie Walter Murphy[14].
