Thomas Murray was known to marry two wives who were half-sisters to each other. There are no sources for a marriage to Mary Coulter but leaving it there in case something comes up in the future in records.
Thomas R Murray was born in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland about 1725. He was the son of Morgan Murray (1684-1741) and Sarah Hawkins (1698-1748), both of whom lived and died in Baltimore County.
His father, Morgan was the son of James Murray (1665-1704) and Jemima Morgan (1668-1711). James Murray had immigrated to America in 1676 from Perthshire, Scotland. James Murray and Jemima Morgan were born in Baltimore County, Maryland where both died. Her father was Captain Thomas "Tom" Morgan (1639-1697) who had immigrated to America from Wales.
Thomas Murray's mother, Sarah Hawkins Murray, was born in Baltimore County, Maryland where she lived her entire life. She was the daughter of Joseph Hawkins (1665-1725) and Elizabeth Griffith (1675-1752), both of whom were also born and lived in Maryland.
On 1746 Thomas married Henrietta Maria Jones (1728-abt 1760). Born in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of Maryland natives, Phillip Jones (1701-1761) and Jemima Murray (1695-1725). Thomas and Henrietta had six known children. They were Elizabeth Murray (1748-1834), Nicholas Murray (1751-1812), Thomas Murray, Jr. (1754-1835), Mary Murray (1755?-1849), Uroth Murray (1755?-aft 1805) and Sarah Murray (ca1760-1830).
In 1761 Thomas married Henrietta's half sister, Margaret Jones (1723-abt 1780), in Baltimore County, Maryland. She was the daughter of Phillip Jones and Anne Rattenburg ? (1706-1762). Thomas and Margaret Murray had four known children. They were Christopher Murray (1762-1823), Morgan Murray (1764-1830), Shadrack Murray (1765-1841) and Ann Murray (1766-1805)[2]
His father, according to Tennessee records, cited in this Link was Morgan Murray ( aka Murrough).
The only evidence of his daughter, Uroth Murray's existence is documented in her father's Will. [3]
Not certain when Thomas was born but he live to adulthood, marriage and prosperity. Thomas Murray passed away about 1805 because that it the time of his probate.[4]
