This profile is part of the Murray Name Study.

James was born between 1696 -1706. He married his first cousin once removed, Anne Bolling. He owned "Athol Braes" near Petersburg in Amelia County, Virginia and in what is now Prince George County, Virginia. He and wife Anne Bolling had the following known children:

61 William Murray, M.D. (5/6/1752-1815), m. 11/27/1779. Rebecca Bolling (see 112). Dr. William Murray inherited "Athol Braes", and was called the "Duke of Athol". Lived at "Grove Brook", Amelia County, and later at "Woodstock", Powhatan County.
