Thomas was baptised in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England on 3 August 1663.[1] His parents were Thomas Musgrave and Frances Holroyd who were married 1 June 1624 in Dewsbury, Yorkshire.[2]
Thomas married Margaret Barker in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England, on 22 June 1659.[3]Their children were baptised at All Saint's in Wakefield, Yorkshire (see research notes below) which is near Dewsbury.
Thomas was likely buried either 16 March 1684, Wakefield, Yorkshire [4] or 14 November 1696, in Wakefield, Yorkshire.[5]
Research Notes
Research has been based on family connections to find correct dates with sources. The dates have been changed, but the parents, spouse, and children have not.
This profile formerly had 1631, Eden Hall, Cumberland, England as its birth data. While Eden Hall was a traditional seat of the name Musgrave by this time period, it seems unlikely Thomas Musgrave, descended from a Musgrave line in Yorkshire, would suddenly be born amongst another Musgrave family in Cumberland. His immediate family members were born in Yorkshire and there is a record of a Thomas Musgreave, son of Thomas Musgreave, being baptised in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England on 3 August 1633.[6] This seems to be a very probable record for this individual. Several online family trees use this date and this source for the child of Thomas and Frances (Holroyd) Musgrave, who were married in Dewsbury.[7]
The Registers of Dewsbury Yorkshire, edited by Samuel Chadwick in 1898 has a lot of family names. Source page link below. In it, Thomas' 1633 baptism says his father is "of Hangingheaton"[8] (which the FamilySearch index does not mention).
Thomas' death: There are burial/death records found that could be Thomas or his son. The date originally used for this profile, 1662, is unlikely as it happens before the birth of his children and no source can be found for it.
Thomas' Children:
John- sources not found. An online tree has his birth and death around 1660.
Thomas- according to their profiles, the majority of Thomas' children were born in Wakefield, Yorkshire. The exception being Thomas, who was born (or baptised?) in York to an unknown mother. However, there is a source for a Thomas, son of Thomas Musgrave, baptised at All Saints in Wakefield, in 1666.[9]
Henry- search for sources inconclusive. Nothing found in Wakefield parish registers with siblings, possibly born before the family moved to Wakefield. A search in available Dewsbury parish records has Thomas' brother Henry, but no sign of son Henry's baptism.
Susanna-baptised 19 June 1664 at All Saints in Wakefield[10]
Mary- baptised 28 January 1672 at All Saints in Wakefield[11]
Margaret- baptised 14 May 1673 at All Saints in Wakefield[12]
Alice- baptised 21 June 1676 at All Saints in Wakefield[13]
