Helen Mae Myles was born June 14, 1925 to the union of William Myles and Lillian Celestine Myles in New Orleans, LA. Helen attended elementary and high school in Shreveport, LA.

Accepting Christ at an early age, she was Baptized by the late Rev. J.E. Evans in Shreveport, LA and became an active member of Evergreen Baptist Church, Sunday school and the Choir. Singing was always a part of her life.

Helen attended Grambling University and received a Bachelors of Art Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to receive her Master's Degree from the University of San Francisco.

Helen and Carl Crowley (preceded her in death) were married in 1945 and moved to Oakland, CA. in 1948. To that union was one daughter Kathleen. After coming to California, Helen became a member with Beth Eden Baptist Church under the late Rev. J.P. Hubbard. Helen worked as a member of the Jr. Choir, Sunday school, Men's Chorus and Choraleers, Progressive Bible Class, Beth Eden Housing Board and Beth Eden Library.

Helen met and later married Thomas King (also preceded her in death). Children and music were always a part of her life. Helen worked 17 years at the Oakland Public Library and 20 years in the Oakland Public School System. Helen was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Berkeley Bay Area Chapter. Helen loved her family dearly and showed care and concern for others.

Left to cherish her memories: one daughter, Kathleen Lewis of Hayward, CA. Expressions Two Granddaughters LaTanya Morris-Harmon of Antioch, CA. Carla Morris- Wilson of Sacramento, CA. One Grand son-in-law Craig Harmon. Four Great Grandchildren: Craig Jr & Laila Harmon, Cedrinique & JaVonte Wilson, Cousins: Beverly Rogeau of Texas, Gloria Boyd of So Calif. and a host of friends, other relatives & church family.^[1]
