Biography

Francis Myrick born July 1758 in Warren County, North Carolina married Susannah Carroll, daughter of John Carroll, 1782 or 1785, who died 18 January 1840. Served in the Revolution in Captain Nazary's Company, Colonel Dudley's Regiment, General Greene's Army, stated that he and his brother, Moses, lived with their father, Moses Myrick, in Warren County, North Carolina, before joining the army. Moved to Moore County, North Carolina, and died there in 1842. Children of Francis and Susannah Carroll Myrick, living in 1853 were: Moses, Polly, Huldah, Rebecca, Permelia, James, John. Of those named, John was born in 1787 married Peggy Garner 18 December 1815 and died 12 November 1870, served in War of 1812 in Captain Sullivan's Company, North Carolina Militia; and James was born in 1791, served in War of 1812 in Captain Rollin's Company, North Carolina volunteers, Enlisted from Moore County, North Carolina. Another daughter, Sarah Myrick Denson, was living in 1842. In that year she willed her interests in the undivided real estate of "my deceased father, Francis Myrick" [1]

In Nov. 1782 & Oct 1784 Courts was ordered to pay Lucy Shearin,(unmarried) until the next Aug for the care of a baseborn child.[2][3]

Oct 29,1784 , Court ordered Francis and Moses Myrick to pay Lucy Shearin ten pounds for the maintenance of her Bastard child from Aug. 1783 up until this date.[4]


In 1800, a Frances Myrick headed a Moore County, North Carolina household of 13 including four slaves.[5]

Revolutionary War Pensioner

" 1832, Jun 7 -- Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty, File R7547, Francis Myrick Francis Myrick [age 74], Moore County, NC resident, applied for a pension. Myrick stated that he was born in Warren County in Jul 1758. Moses Myrick, brother of Francis Myrick and resident of Chatham County attested to Francis Myrick's War service. On 1853, Sep 15, John Myrick, age 66, son of Francis and Susannah Myrick, attested that Francis Myrick died Jan 10, 1842 and Susannah Myrick died Jan 19, 1840. Francis and Susannah were married about 1782 in Warren County, NC. They later migrated to Moore County, NC. On 1853, Sep 10/1854, Apr 22, Alexander Carroll, age 79[1854], attests that Francis Myrick married his sister Susannah Carroll about 1785 in Warren County, NC and that Francis died in 1842 and Susannah died in 1840. Their surviving children are Moses, John, Polly, Huldah, Rebeca, Permelia and James.

1842, Nov 1 -- Deed Book 21 Page 468-469-, Moore County, NC

Wyatt Williamson and wife Mary deeded Enoch Maness her 1/9 share of 600 acres owned by Francis Myrick Dec'd. located on Deep River adjoining James Garner and John Maness. Francis Myrick died intestate with nine children: Moses, James, John, Sally, Huldah, Rebecca, Susannah, Amelia and Mary. Hiram Williamson and Martha Williamson were witnesses.

Private Francis Myrick, born July 1758 in Granville, North Carolina, died 10 January 1842 in Moore County, North Carolina, and his wife Susannah Carrell, married @1782 in Moore County, North Carolina, died Moore County, North Carolina 19 January 1840, are honored for service during the American Revolution: 1) CAPT NAZERY; COL DAVIS NICHOLS. Their children included James C Myrick, born @1791 in North Carolina, died Tishomingo, Mississippi after 09 August 1850. [6]
