Henry was born in 1837.
The 1890 Census records were destroyed by fire, very little is available for Alabama. [1]
In 1900, Henry and Annie Nance had been married 17 years. They had eight children living in their household, in Haw Ridge, Coffee, Alabama. It is recorded that Annie has had ten pregnancies and ten living children at this time. [2] The children living in the home at this time and their birth dates are:
I removed the profiles that were connected as parents; they might have been related to this Henry, but they were born several decades after his birth. Lula Belle (Unknown) Nance (1880-1949) and William J. Nance (abt.1877-). It’s possible Henry’s father was named William, but it was that William.Weatherall-96 19:48, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
In 1864 Henry Nance was enslaved on the Faunsdale Plantation in Alabama. He is listed on the slave roster as (Tenn) Henry age 28.
