Charity Auzella Nash was born 1888 in South Carolina. Her parents were Columbus and Rose Nash. She had three brothers, Wilson, Wesley and Jesse Nash; and a sister, Mrs. Eleanor James.

Charity was the wife of the Rev. Eugene Avery Adams Sr; they were married June 19, 1910. Mrs. Adams was the mother of Charity Edna (Adams) Earley who served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) during World War II. The couple also had three other children: Eugene Adams Jr., Lucy Adams and John Adams,
