This Marriage was solemnized between us, Richard William Dobberson and Mary Ann Neal her X mark in the Presence of us, George King his X mark and Mary King her X mark[4].
Mary Ann first appears in the Census of 1851 working as a Domestic Servant for Compositor, William (Willis); his wife Mary (Willis); their children William and Emily (Willis) and their son-in-law, James (Mayhew). Their address is 25 Gloucester Street, Bethnal Green, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, London & Middlesex, England[5]. Their surname is recorded as "Dollerson" in the Census[6].
By 1871, Richard and Mary Ann are living with their children Richard William, William "George" and Charles Henry (Dobberson), along with Richard's widowed father, Richard (Dobberson). They reside at 4 Union Court, High Street, in the Town of Great Ilford, Parish of Barking, District of Romford, Essex, England[7]. The family are still at 4 Union Court, High Street, in the Town of Great Ilford, Essex with the Census Record of 1881. Richard and Mary Ann reside there with children William "George", John, Charles Henry, Alice and Mary Ann (Dobberson)[8].
With the arrival of the Census of 1891, Richard and Mary Ann (Neal) have moved to 10 Brandon Grove, in the Town of Great Ilford, District of Romford, in Essex, England. They reside there with children Charles Henry, Alice and Mary Ann (Dobberson)[9]. Most of the children have moved away by the Census Record of 1901 and only their widowed daughter Mary Ann (Dobberson/Page) has moved back to the family home with her young daughter, Ethel Mary (Page). The family have also taken in boarders in the form of the widow Elizabeth (Watson) and they still live in Brandon Grove, Ilford, Essex, England[10].
The Census of 1911 reveals that Mary Ann (Neal) has lost her husband Richard William (Dobberson) and is living with her married daughter, Mary Ann (Dobberson/Page/Burge); Mary Ann's husband, Scavenger, Edward (Burge); Mary Ann's daughter Ethel Mary (Page) and Boarders, Claude Leslie (Harvey) and Alfred Henry (Biddick).
