Biography
Elizabeth Neal was born 1825 or 1826 in Chatham County, North Carolina. Her parents were Younger Neal (1778-1843) and Luraney Susanna Harrington Neal (1790-1867). Elizabeth Neal and Thomas Patrick Poe was issued a marriage bond on Sept 12 1851 in Chatham County, North Carolina. She was listed on the 1850 census as living in the Lower Regiment of Chatham County, North Carolina. After her marriage to Thomas Poe the family moved to Crawford County, Arkansas. Her mother moved also in this area. They are listed on the 1860 census as being in Cedar Creek, Crawford, Arkansas. Unable to find a death date for Elizabeth. She was not included in the 1870 census with her husband Thomas and children. Many other trees have a death date of 1872 but there is not a record to prove this. There is a child born in 1872 so it is unknown if Elizabeth was the mother or Thomas's second wife Lucinda Rogers Coatney. Marriage date has not been located for Thomas' marriage to Lucinda. .
