Priscilla (Nelles) Cummings died from complications arising from the birth of Amelia Cummings.
Priscilla was born 16 December 1796 in the Nelles Settlement, Grand River, Upper Canada. She married James Cummings 22 Jan 1818. [1][2] Priscilla died approximately three weeks after giving birth to her daughter Amelia.[3] The date was 28 August 1824. She was buried 30 August 1824 in Chippawa, Upper Canada.[4] Her obituary in The Gleaner (Niagara, Upper Canada), Saturday, 4 Sept 1824: "At Chippewa on the 28th ult., Mrs. Cummings, consort of James Cummings, Esq. in the 27th year of her age. She has left a husband and four children to deplore their loss." [5]
