Sarah is believed to be the daughter of William Nelson b about 1790 in Drumacarrow Co Cavan Ireland, and Frances Wilson b about 1800, and to have had 2 sisters, one of whom also emigrated to Australia, and one who married in Ireland and stayed there.

Mrs. Gore and her sister came out from Ireland on the ship "Earl Gray" in the year 1849, and the former has been a resident of Armidale for the last 40 years. There is one sister living who has attained the age of 95 years.
