DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Alexander by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Alexander:
Nesbitt-111 and Nisbet-7430 appear to represent the same person because: Nisbet is Alexander's last name at birth, he used Nesbitt later and that was the spelling his children used.
Yes I agree - I wasn't sure at first whether the marriages were 'right' (as his father's name is wrong) but the weight of other evidence has persuaded me.
Possible marriages to Patience Scott in Ontario, 1907, https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KSZ8-N86 and Jean (not Janet) Spence in Ontario, 1921, https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:27DX-78Y, but I'm not certain as his father's name is given as Alex in both cases. But the dates fit and Alex and his brother never knew their dad and may have lost contact with their mother fairly early in their lives?
Alex and Patience had a son in Fort William, Ontario: Wilson Alex Nesbitt on 10 Aug 1909, https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV9H-2GJR.
