James, son of Richard Janion Nevill and Ann (Yalden) Nevill, was born in 1820 and baptised on 14 May 1820 in Llanelli, St Elli, Carmarthenshire, Wales.^[1]

In the 1851 census James (age 31), Clergyman, was the unmarried son of R J Nevill in Llanygmmch Park, Llangennech, Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Resident at that time were;^[2]
