There is one source that supports an Eleanor Ruddell marriage to a Neville. This source is a Brief history of the Ruddell family in Hampshire County Virginia and the move to Woodford County, Kentucky.

Joseph Neville was born circa 1753 in what is now Hampshire County, West Virginia.

His marriage Eleanor Ruddell was about 1778 in what is now Hampshire or Hardy Counties in West Virginia.

A will of Joseph Neville indicates that he died in 1819 in Hardy County, Virginia. This is supported by the fact that his wife Eleanor's 2nd marriage was in 1822 to William Wilson.

Research Notes

Joseph Neville is often confused with these two men. The Joseph Neville who was born in FEB of 1770 in Hampshire, Virginia and died on 04 OCT 1848 in Hardy, West Virginia. This Joseph Neville married on 26-Dec-1809 Eleanor Wood in Hardy Co WV.

Many confuse this man to General Joseph Neville. As noted by others there is no proof that the Joseph Neville who married to Eleanor Ruddell is related.

However, according to the SAR Membership: 89816 Application Date: 29 Apr 1963 the Joseph Neville that married an Eleanor Wood could be related.
