Biography

John Nevill (Nevell) is the son and heir of William Nevill of Liversedge, co. York (d. c. 1368).[1] His mother might be Elizabeth, dau. of Sir John Harrington of Farlton & Katherine, dau. of Sir Robert Sherburn.[2]

Dugdale (1899), simply states that his maternal grandfather was Sir John Harrington but doesn't identify his parents or family branch.[3]

Marriage

According to Flower (1881), John married Ales (Alice), d. & h. of Roger "Henry" Sherwood.[2]

Jenkins is right. The Chevet branch & desc. are easier to look up by searching "NEVILL". Flower (1881), goes for the alt. NEVELL.

In late mediaeval period the family name was also rendered Nevell in various public documents.
