Research Notes

No records located of Edward. Note that this profile overlaps with Edward Newby.

It is plausible that Edward was born in America in 1676, though there is also a possibility that he was born in Ireland. We know that William, his father, emigrated from Ireland with his family sometime between 1668 (when his son Jonathan was born in Ireland) and 1683 (when he first appears in the records in America).

Newby-80 and Newby-11 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same parents, same death year

Newby-80 and Newby-11 do not represent the same person because: I do not believe these are the same people, of birthdates of one or both are incorrect.

The purpose of merging is to prevent duplication. Getting all the facts right is a separate problem. Newby-80 and Newby-11 were obviously intended to be the same person. No evidence is cited for a birth date of 1650. Use 1676. It may be wrong but it fits the father better.
