1801 Marriage On 30 Jul 1801 Samuel Newby, the son of Samuel & Rachel Newby of Randolph County, NC married Penina Hobs, daughter of Elisha & Fanny Hobs,[4][5] also of Randolph County as noted in the Quaker Meeting Records. The marriage was witnessed by the following, among others: Precilah, Sarah, Elisha and William Hobs as well as Jemimah, Samuel and Rachel Newby.[6]
1808 Marriage On 28 Aug 1808 bond was made for the marriage of Samuel Newby and Mary Beamon.[7]Note: Bondsman was William Newby. Samuel (b. 1776) did have a younger brother William who would have been 19 years old at the time. However, Samuel (b. 1775) had a father named William as well. I believe this is the Samuel born in 1776 because of his age in the 1850 census.
