Biography

Alice Jane Newman was born in Cayuga, Haldimand County. She married William Grainger in Harrow in 1901.

Mrs. Alice Jane Grainger, of 608 Ducharme, Roseland, died today in Grace Hospital after a brief illness. She was 71. Born in Cayuga County, Ontario, she came to Windsor 31 years ago from Kingsville. She was a member of Roseland United Church. A son, Donald, died in 1935. She is survived by her husband, William; five daughters, Mrs. Russell Montgomery (Grace), Essex; Miss Flossie, at home; Mrs. Elmer Pearson (Blanche), Windsor; Mrs. Lawrence Staudt (Iva), Utica, Michigan, and Mrs. Lloyd Seal (Marguerite), Remington Park; two brothers, Albert and George Newman, both of Cottam, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Anderson's Funeral Home, 895 Ouellette, Saturday., Rev. Henry A. Bunt officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Kingsville.^[1]
