Biography

Erastus was born in 1838. He worked as a farmer.


From the 1900 census: Erastus Newman lived in Lee County, Illinois in 1900. He was the head of the household, 56 years old, and identified as white. Erastus was born in Canada (Eng) around 1844. His father was born in England, and his mother was born in Canada (Eng). In 1900, Erastus was married to Martha Newman, and they had one child named Nellie. He immigrated to the United States in 1846.

From the 1920 census: Erastus Newman lived in Whiteside County, Illinois in 1920. He was the head of the household's father, 81 years old, and identified as white. Erastus was born in Canada around 1839, and both of his parents were born in England. In 1920, Erastus was a widow. He could read and write, and immigrated to the United States in 1860.

He passed away in 1927. He is buried at Binghampton Cemetery in Amboy, Lee County, Illinois, USA.
