Biography

Alleged parent of Richard Newton Puritan Great Migration immigrant to Massachusetts. The profile has been disconnected (but is linked in the Research Notes in the PGM Profile. Some consideration should be given to whether this profile should remain to prevent recreation. If it is going to be merged away, please consult with the PGM project so we can reconcile our notes).

Research Notes

  • Isaac /NEWTON/ b. 1577 Bures St Mary, Suffolk - d. 1641 Westby, Lincolnshire, (Ancestry Family Trees Text: Timerson)
  • He's not the husband of Hannah Ayscough. That Isaac Newton was bur. 06 Oct 1642 at Colsterworth, co. Lincs. The man of this profile is somebody else.
  • Note: there is a source on this profile, however, I suspect that it is actually for the death of a different person.
  • According to Noyes (1857), Richard Newton of Woolsthorpe (d. 1588), also had a son Isaac (bp. 1573).[1] ... but the pedigree submitted by Sir Issac Newton, stated that Rich. (d. 1588) had 2 sons: Rbt. & Rich.

Notes added but commented out: This profile was created for the fantasy of people trying to tie Richard Newton-105 back to another Newton family in England that he is unequivocally NOT a part of.

Please note the following changes to this incorrectly created profile over time.

  1. Change of birth from Essex to Suffolk. Change made to counter factual evidence contrary to the fantasy.
  2. Removed original references to Richard Newton. Obfuscation to fit narrative.
  3. Removed "Text Record for Richard Newton" which occured twice while leaving Isaac Newton, which only occured once, as the only text name mentioned.
  4. Added a biography about someone named Robert Isaac, born in 1565 and died in 1641 who never existed. Amalgamation, a Robert Isaac Newton and Anne Newton did have a child together...over in Norfolk...in 1869.
  5. This statement was added: "The evens of Robert Isaac's life were either witnessed by Don Newton-4136 or he will add sources later. We know Don's not over 400 years old and he apparently doesn't have any sources either.
  6. Added Born in Essex and died in Lincolnshire from another unsourced GEDCOM import.
  7. Removed bogus and made up sources to confuse people looking for facts.
  8. Added "Sir" as a prefix. Thankfully it was deleted within a year.
  9. Added in a "source" but it's clearly for Isaac Newton-18 who died in 1642. This profile maintains a death in 1641 and a birth of 1577 for its pretend Isaac Newton.
  10. Added a Note: There is a source on this profile but suspects it's for another person. Of course it is. Source has been deleted.
  11. Added another note: Alleged parent of Richard Newton-105.
  12. Deleted Richard Newton-106 as Father, correctly.
  13. Someone quotes Noyes (1857) regarding Richard Newton-106 had a son Isaac b. 1573. Yes, and the date of birth for this profile is 1577. Deleting this "source" as it was superceded by Foster (1929) and it also proves counterfactual to the arguement of who this made up profile was.
  14. Added back Richard Newton-106 as Father. Incorrect.

You can see these changes contain an amalgamation of not only names, but places of birth, dates of death, spouses, parents and more. Original profile was created that contained more mentions of Richard Newton than it did about Isaac Newton, again with no sources

Source does not exist, just like this Isaac Newton born in Essex in 1577 and died far away in Lincolnshire 1641 doesn't exist:

  • Isaac /NEWTON/ b. 1577 Bures St Mary, Suffolk - d. 1641 Westby, Lincolnshire, (Ancestry Family Trees Text: Timerson)

He's not the husband of Hannah Ayscough. That Isaac Newton was bur. 06 Oct 1642 at Colsterworth, co. Lincs.

Please see edit page for additional Notes This could potentially be used as a source if we change the date of birth of 1577 to 1573 and delete the ficticous wife Thankful Newton (cousin marriage?) * According to Noyes (1857), Richard Newton of Woolsthorpe (d. 1588), also had a son Isaac (bp. 1573).[2] ... but the pedigree submitted by Sir Issac Newton, stated that Rich. (d. 1588) had 2 sons: Rbt. & Rich.

I agree that we could use this as an actual profile for an Issac Newton. It's possible that Richard Newton-106 did have a son named Isaac, but most researchers have that he was born in 1573.

This profile when originally made was conflating Robert Newton-832 1575/6 - 1641 to Isaac (hence the addition of a middle name of Isaac...even though middle names were not really used during this time period) in an effort to connect some downstream Newton's to Sir Isaac's family. Which is why the dates of birth and death jump all over the place and the made up wife's profile is junk too, every time someone makes a reasoned argument these types of profiles get changes to "answer" those arguments.

Things that need to be changed:

1. date of birth: changed to 1573

2. place of birth, look at a map. He wasn't born over a hundred miles away from the entirety of the rest of his family. If we're guessing at a place of birth it'd more intellectually reasonable to have him born in the same place the vast majority of his contemporary family was born. Change to Colsterworth or Woolsthorpe, whatever but get the county of Lincolnshire correct at the very least.

3. merge the wife Newton-107, that's a junk profile too, it's conflating the profile of Thankful Bigg-23 (I'm thankful we have that one corrected). You can tell by the low number that she was brought in as a made up pretend profile when people used to say Thankful Bigg(e) married into the Newton family, again to attach a downstream Newton to Sir Isaac

4. remove date of death, that's for Isaac's brother Robert

5. remove place of death as well, at least until we know what happened to Isaac.

I'm guessing he might have died very early.
