Biography

James Newton was born 5 January 1683, in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts to Moses Newton and Joannah Larkin.

He lived in Marlborough-Southborough, where his first wife, Mary Joslin, died less than a year after their marriage, following the birth of a premature daughter, Mary. (Some records state Mary died at birth and others have her living to adulthood.)

Rachel married James Newton 8 September 1712. She started her marriage with the care of a two year old child.

From 1714, they lived on lands of James' grandfather, Richard, passed down through deeds via his father Moses.

Rachel and James went on to have children of their own.

James died 29 November 1762 without a will and his estate was probated in Southborough - No. 1763 43224 - in 1763.. Rachel died soon afterwards, around March or April of 1763.
