Biography

Sir Thomas Newton alias Craddock

A footnote in Archaeologia Cambresis [1] provides clarity on this man being the father of Isabell Newton:

We have a more detailed statement of the descent of Isabel Newton-4020, wife of Sir Giles Capel Capell-153, in Harleian MS. 1041, where she is recorded as the second daughter and coheir of Thomas Cradoc or Newton by his second wife, Elianor, daughter of Lord Daubeney.

There is an opposing view of Thomas' wife as mother to Isabell found in [2] which lists Luce, daughter and co-heir of John Hamton as the mother.

Also, for spelling/s of "Daubeney", look at d'Aubeney, Aubigny aka de Albini, d'Aubigny. I bet that would help find information about Isabelle's mother ("Elianor", or Eleanor). Look at Eleanor Arundel Arundel-12 her parents are Aubigny-87 and FitzAlan-175.

Is Newton-4020 the daughter, or is this still being researched? There seems to be several conflicts between many sources (HOP, Arch.Camb., etc.).

Newton-1147 and Newton-252 appear to represent the same person because: same person
