Arthur married Mary Kate deRenzy (or de Reury) Gordon in 1875 in New Zealand.^[2][1] They had at least one daughter, Mary Georgina (1876).

Arthur died on 27 July 1888. He was buried at Linwood Cemetery in Christchurch, New Zealand.^[1]
